Eliza takes the president's job at Evertech AI for a reason she has given nobody there. Vincent killed her parents, and it is Vincent's father who offers her the company, which puts her close enough to the family to look for evidence. The father attaches a condition before she signs. She is also to take his youngest son Ryder in hand and make something civil out of him. Ryder is wild and will not be managed, and the two of them are at each other most of the time. They are in the same house through all of it, and Ryder falls in love with her. Eliza works out that she feels it too, and then pushes him off, because the case against Vincent is what she came for.
