After the I Do

Patricia is fifty and has been married to William for thirty years. The day before their anniversary she found him on one knee in front of Linda, his first love, asking Linda to marry him. Patricia contacted a lawyer and had divorce papers drawn up. William told her Linda had terminal cancer and asked her to agree to a wedding that would not be legally real. He brought up their son's career while he asked. Patricia gave her consent, chose the bride's dress, and was to appear at the ceremony among the guests. At the fitting Linda cut herself and tore the dress, and said Patricia had done it. William took Linda's side and reprimanded Patricia. Patricia asked their son to look into Linda's medical history. The ceremony was set for the day of the thirtieth anniversary. Linda invited the couple's relatives and friends and told them she would be taking Patricia's place in the house. Patricia asked William for help and he told her to cooperate and not make a scene.
