Sophie Holland raised Elena, the girl her family had taken in, and gave up a good deal of her own life doing it. Later she spent a night with Bradley Fredrick, who has more money than anyone else in Newfort. Someone set her up soon afterwards and she went to prison. Ten months in she gave birth to a boy. She asked Elena to carry him out to Bradley. Bradley traced the child back to her, and from there back through what had been done to her before the sentence, and he said he would make it up to her once she was out. When she was released she went into the Fredrick house under a name that was not her own. A smell of wormwood somewhere in the building gave her a thread to pull. It led to Elena, who had been living under her name, and Sophie put that in front of the family.
