Returning the “Poor” Parents

Vince Fisher was raised by the Fisher family as their son. Three years before the story opens, their biological son Logan Fisher came back, and the adoptive parents told Vince the family had gone bankrupt. Vince took a job and paid the household expenses while continuing school. The parents then required him to donate a kidney to Logan. He did. After the surgery he received an admission offer from Clarendon University and turned it down on the grounds that the family could not pay for it. Working as a delivery rider, he found that the bankruptcy had not happened. He cut off contact with the Fishers and left the house. His biological parents, who run a top consortium, came for him along with his sister Donna Ford. Vince enrolled at Clarendon and was named freshman representative. At the opening ceremony Logan insulted him in front of the assembled students, and Vince's parents and sister answered in public.
