The Winter Veil

Frostwood sits in a valley that stays under snow most of the year. Eleanor Winters owned the town's only bed and breakfast and lived apart from almost everyone in it. After her death, four people who had never met received letters calling them to the reading of her will. The inn was left to the four of them together, on the condition that they live in it side by side for three weeks. Anyone who walks out before the three weeks are up gives up their share. Lila Monroe runs a bookstore called The Curious Bookworm and took the letter as a way out from under her past. Alex Reed, a journalist who had stopped expecting much from the work, came because he wanted to find out how Eleanor actually died. Jules Carter, an artist who was not selling, came looking for something to work from and said nothing about her doubts over what came next. The fourth arrival completes the group, and the inn, worn down by winters, holds them for the duration.
