Faded Threads

A group of old school friends comes back to the same high school ten years after they left. They were inseparable then, and one of them has spent the years since working quietly to wreck the lives of the others. What holds the reunion together is Max, who drowned under circumstances nobody ever explained. The police called it an accident and closed it. Then a video tape shot the night he died turns up, and the account everyone had accepted stops holding. Sophia Wise is the one behind it. She attaches herself to Max's sister, Vanessa Richardson, offering to help her find out what really happened to her brother, and Vanessa accepts. The investigation does not stay on Max. It reaches into the rest of what the group did that year, and Sophia loses control of where it goes. Their secrets are hanging by threads by then, and the friends have to work out whether they want to keep going down the road they have started on.
