Lucian Foster was adopted into the Foster family as a child so that his blood would be on hand for Adrian. The two of them grew up inside that arrangement, and what came out of it ran between beatings and protection in both directions. Lucian holds the Foster Group now. Adrian is the heir on the paperwork, a sculptor who keeps a mild face on in front of his brother. Adrian's biological father, Vincent Chase, faked his death years ago and is still alive. He keeps Lucian on a poison, and that is who is actually running the company through him. Skyler Sullivan puts venture money into companies, and she noticed the Foster Group's stock moving in ways it should not. When she came to look into it, Adrian let her see the broken version of himself, on the calculation that a woman who takes things apart would want to take him on as well. The two of them began shorting the company's stock together. Then a car crash took Adrian's memory, and in the gap the childhood between him and Lucian came back.
