Frank is willing to help the country but does not like to say what the sect's cultivation method is. She keeps asking until he tells her it is dual cultivation. He recruits her into the Joy Sect and pulls some low-grade techniques out of the sect's library for the army. An SSS from the Association arrives at the base, and the military keeps it from Frank at first. Several generals go up against him and lose. Frank is only called when the base is about to fall. He beats the SSS without trouble and passes the army a formation the system gives him. The Association wants to wipe the base out, but the military's top brass arrive to talk peace, and the Association, wary of the army's biggest weapon, agrees to send someone to negotiate terms with Frank instead. The officer sits in on the talk. The negotiator pushes, she tries to smooth it over, and Frank loses patience and kills him.
Ability users begin harassing military bases in several places. Frank recruits zombies and ability users into an outer sect and teaches them dual cultivation. The Joy Sect grows fast, and Frank with it. The sect begins posting missions of its own, with rewards for killing Association ability users.

The day he gets back to the real world, the game goes live on Earth. Everyone on the planet is enrolled, whether they signed up or not, and Leonard is pulled back into the dungeons against his will.
He goes in with the attributes he maxed out during the beta and a full memory of every stage and every trap. While other players are meeting the game for the first time, he clears the high-level stages with little trouble, keeps his family and friends alive, and starts gathering allies. In the course of this he works out that a higher civilization built the game and has been using Earth as its playground. Closing the game for good means collecting the core crystals and getting through the final level, and he sets out to do that.
