Don't Touch My Phoenix

On the day I hatched, my mother handed me over to Emperor Ashcroft against a debt. My bloodline is mixed, so I am not much of a phoenix. Ashcroft is the emperor the Three Realms are afraid of. He took delivery of me and raised me. I caused trouble in the heavens for years, and he went from putting up with the arrangement to being gentle about it. A hundred years later I was down in the mortal world. I trusted the wrong person and ended up in danger. My mother burned her own life force to get into the heavens and ask him for help. He had been sealed in seclusion a thousand years. He broke the seclusion, went to the East Sea, brought the Drake Palace down, and shielded me with his own body. In front of the Three Lives Mirror the matter had been settled long before either of us got there, and a golden scale stands as the pledge between us. He waited for me to grow. I went from a ball of feathers in the Celestial Orchard to sitting beside him in the Nine Heavens as empress, and the calamity set down for an emperor and a phoenix came due while we were there.
