Ben, recently graduated, eats a great deal of spicy food and develops hemorrhoids. He goes to the hospital, and the doctor assigned to him is Ethan, his stepfather's son. Ethan performs a digital rectal exam. Ben is humiliated by it. They keep meeting through the treatment. Ethan is cold with him, tells him repeatedly to stay off spicy food, and comes to Ben's place late at night to check on him after the surgery. Ben starts eating spicy dishes on purpose so he will have to go back. Each tests what the other feels. Ethan pushes him away once. Ben dates a girl for a short time and does not stop thinking about Ethan. At a follow-up appointment the distance between them breaks down. There are misunderstandings, then admissions, then the question of their families.
