Brianna married the boxer Mark Maddix and stayed married to him three years without him once saying in public that she was his wife. She kept a private count. Every time he hurt her she put away one pearl, and she had decided that at ninety-nine she would stop. He wins the championship and dedicates the win from the ring to Maylin. That is the ninety-ninth pearl. She leaves divorce papers behind and goes, and she goes back to the family she came from, where she is the heiress and always was. Savion Blake is a businessman she had known before. The two of them sign a marriage contract for reasons that have nothing to do with feeling, and then it stops being that. Mark meanwhile finds out what Maylin had been doing: the miscarriage she never had, the situations she arranged so Brianna would look guilty. He tries to get his wife back. He takes an underground fight, with his life on the table, to win the diamond called Tears of the Ocean and put it in front of her as an apology.
