Iain married Lily and gave up his own career so that she could start a company. For five years he kept the house while the app the business ran on, which he had built, made it work. Six months into the marriage Lily started an affair with a man who worked under her, and it went on for the next five years. Iain found out on a day he had gone to surprise her, and the man said to his face that he was the one who counted as the husband. Lily insulted him in front of other people. Then his background came out. The patent on the app was in his name, and the head of the group whose money was behind Lily's company was his sister. He filed for divorce and took it through the courts, got the technology and his contacts back, and left it at that. His sister pulled the investment. The company came apart without the app at the centre of it and the people around Lily went elsewhere. Iain went back to his own family for a while.
