Clara and Ava grew up in the Hayes house together. Ava was the adopted one and the one the family favored. When Ava was facing charges, Clara took the blame for her and went to prison, and she was in there for years. She comes out to find that every song, script and business plan she wrote has been claimed by her own family as theirs, and that the Hayes family has cut her off for good. She stops asking any of them for affection. The talent she had kept buried is what she works with now. She gets into radio, then into the wider entertainment industry, and one piece at a time she takes back the songs, the career and the standing that were taken from her. The relatives who protected Ava start paying for it, and the Hayes family has to watch Ava's lies come apart in public.
