The Atlantic Bride

In 1911, in the New York of the Gilded Age, the Kane family owns railways, shipping and steel. Evelyn Hart, a schoolteacher from the English countryside, crosses the ocean to join her fiancé Thomas, and Thomas betrays her. On the liner she rescues Julian Kane, a wounded man, and because she has nowhere else to go she agrees to a marriage of convenience with him. She does not know that Julian is the heir to the Kane empire. He keeps apart from people and hides who he is. There are clashes at work, and an old rival of Evelyn's turns up and taunts her. Over this period the two grow fond of each other, and the facts about Julian's family come out a little at a time.
