Heroes in the Darkness

Department 749 operated in secret for years and handled the supernatural threats to the country. One night the entire department disappeared, and no trace of it was found. The creatures it had kept confined underground began to slip out of control. At the same hour a screen spread across the sky over the whole world and began playing one man's memories, and everyone on the ground was made to watch. The memories covered two cases from the department's files: the matter of a twin jade pendant, and the fall of a dragon. They also showed what the department's members had done in those cases, a doctor among them, and what it had cost them, including acts that at the time looked like madness. People watching reacted first with fear and then with doubt about what they were seeing.
