The Divination Master

Luke Roberts runs a fortune-telling livestream from a flat in the city, which is cover for the rest of what he does. At twenty-seven he holds the seal of the Stonehaven Sect as its forty-sixth inheritor, and the work is settling karmic debts, cutting down spirits, and moving ghosts on. The cases arrive one after another: a wealthy family carrying a debt built up over generations, a form of sorcery that takes one person's fate and hands it to another, a shopping mall where the dead have not left. Three years ago his senior brother was killed, and the cases keep turning up pieces of what happened. He carries a compass and stays out of ordinary business, which has been enough to put an organization called Skynet on watch.
