Return of the Reaper

Isaac Kane made a promise at his wife's bedside as she was dying: no more killing, ever. Before that he had been the most feared contract killer alive, known by a name that circulated in the underworld more as a rumor than a person. Since then he has been raising his daughter alone, short of money, taking whatever work he can get, and nobody around him has any idea what he used to do. Then a crime family takes his daughter. The people holding her are Russian mafia, organized, with muscle and safehouses and no reason to negotiate with a broke single father. Isaac has one route to her and it goes straight back through everything he swore off. He breaks the promise and starts working his way up through the organization, one man at a time, and as he moves the old name starts being spoken again by people who had assumed he was dead. Each layer he clears puts him closer to whoever gave the order for the kidnapping, and the further in he goes the more of the man he buried comes back.
