Echoes of Mom's Love

Wendy Freeman gave her son Jason Calloway her left kidney when he was a child and the illness he had would otherwise have killed him. She was raising him on her own. After the operation she could not do heavy work anymore, so she took odd jobs, begged when there were none, and moved from place to place with the boy. Men in the village harassed her and kept at it. Jason came to believe his mother was lazy and loose, and at one point took it that she had run off with one of those men. He left home young. Fifteen years later the two meet by chance. Jason is by then president of a listed company, and Wendy is seriously ill with no one looking after her. The facts of those years come out one at a time as her condition gets worse.
