Love's Labour Lost

Vivienne Hart saves the life of a commander, and her twin sister takes the credit. The sister has the same face, and with it she claims the rescue and the recognition that comes with it. The sister becomes pregnant. She forces Vivienne to marry the commander under her name and to spend the wedding night with him in her place. Vivienne stays in the marriage as her sister, and she and the commander fall in love while he still believes she is her sister. She keeps quiet because her sister has promised to kill their mother if the truth comes out. The commander eventually recognises her by a mark on her body. As the deception starts to come apart, the sister moves to kill Vivienne to keep her silent, and the commander goes looking for her.
