The Commoner Emperor’s Love Returns

The emperor believes the village girl he loved is dead. She is alive, has lost her sight, and lives by begging with the daughter he does not know he has. The two had met years earlier, when the emperor was living among commoners. A princess led the opposition to the match, and they were forced apart. She was already pregnant when she left without a word. Seven years on, the girl begs in the street to feed her blind mother and asks money of the emperor himself. He does not recognise either of them. The mother is caught up in a plot and sentenced to death on a false charge. The two recognise each other at the execution ground. The emperor takes her into the palace and names her his empress-to-be. On the eve of the wedding it comes out that she is the missing daughter of a powerful family, and that family's dealings become the next danger to her.
