On the wedding day Sharon Lane's future mother-in-law lowers the bride price and gives the reason in front of the guests: Sharon is pregnant before the marriage. The fiancé sides with his mother, and the two of them shame Sharon and then her adoptive father. Sharon cancels the wedding on the spot and breaks with the family altogether.
