Huh? This VET Saves HUMANS?

A physician who had cut himself off from the world took in a girl her family had thrown away, and he taught her medicine on one condition. She could treat animals only. Until she had cured 9,999 of them she was not to come down from the mountain or lay hands on a person. Wendy Scott finished the count years later, and the family that had discarded her turned up that same day to bring her home. They had no use for her medicine. The marriage they had arranged would buy resources for her brother, and when she said what she thought of it in front of the room, they moved to take her by force. Then she found out who the groom was. Julian Baker had been sick since birth, and a body like that was the best thing she could have been handed after 9,999 animals. She agreed to the wedding, which put her inside the Baker family and the fighting that went on in it.
